About Ian Pullen
I'm a British national living in southern Extremadura, Spain, about 70 miles north of Seville. I've been here with my wife since the end of 2005 and take advantage of the internet to work for UK clients, as well as a few businesses based here in Spain.

Living here means lower overheads for me and I can reflect that in the competitive prices that I charge.

I pride myself in my commitment to turning projects around quickly and completing all work to a very high standard, so you can be confident that you'll have the right design when you need it. I have a reputation for meeting and beating deadlines and I consistently exceed expectations.

Writing

In December 2008 I was appointed as the Graphic Design Feature Writer on Suite101.com, an international Ezine site that is ranked in the top 200 sites in the USA with almost 6 million unique visitors from the USA alone every month.

Design Experience

I've many years experience working in the design and publishing industries, working in a range of different roles and at different levels. This has given me a broad range of skills, both creative and technical.

While I probably won't ever need to call upon my paste-up experience from working on a regional paper, there are many things that I learned from that time. Hitting many demanding deadlines every day was often frenetic and sometimes impossible, at which point making instant decisions on which steps to take called for calm and rapid decision making skills.

With all the printing occurring in house gave me very strong technical understanding of several printing processes and by spending time working in the repro department, I had hands on experience of takings print jobs through to plate.

I went onto work for a publisher of books as Production Manager, which was less hands on and a hugely valuable experience, and for a magazine publisher as Studio Manager. This was a particularly interesting role as my brief included setting the studio up from scratch, previously the work had been farmed out.

I've also worked as a Studio Manager for a marketing communications company in the north of England and freelanced as a Designer for a couple of magazine publishers.

Over the last few years, while living in Spain, I've continued carry out print work, but I've also developed my web skills, particularly PHP/MySQL, to allow me to design and develop effective online solutions.

Skills

I'm a strong all-rounder who can produce a broad range of work for a range of media, able to develop exciting concepts, carrying out all the work, including illustration and copy-writing. I produce print work on a Mac Pro under OS X, but am comfortable on Windows and tend to split my time on web projects between OS X and Windows (Vista/XP).

I'm very lucky to enjoy my work and so I spend an awful lot of my time working away at one of our computers and I'm always keen to use my time to strengthen and develop my skills. I also like to take time to enjoy the countryside around us and often take a camera out to capture the beauty around us.
